Microsens has developed a unique technology, LiMA for the detection of any bacterial species through detection of bacterial NAD ligase. NAD ligase is present in all bacteria tested and is a sensitive marker that can indicate the presence of bacteria in blood products, in infection and in the environment. In conjunction with the LiMA technology, Microsens has developed a bead-based method that can bind any bacteria (and probably viruses, parasites and fungi). This generic approach enables infectious agents and micro-organisms to be isolated in a simple and rapid method from a diverse range of samples. The method is compatible with any subsequent end-point detection method e.g. PCR, ELISA or culture.
