The company is a world leader in developing synthetic ligand-binding assays and has recently applied the technology for the detection of Mycobacterium tuberculosis (TB).

Microsens has adapted the polymeric ligand technology to bind Mycobacteria including Mycobacterium tuberculosis with high affinity. The TB-ligand system can be used to easily and rapidly isolate TB from patient samples. TB mycobacteria can be captured from sample types such as sputum using ligand-coated beads. The captured mycobacteria can then be stained for diagnosis by microscopy, or analysed by culture, ELISA or molecular techniques.
